2020 FOCUS Therapy Office Closures – Mark Your Calendars!
Happy New Year from all of us at FOCUS Therapy!
To ensure this year goes as smoothly as possible, we’re publishing the 2020 FOCUS Therapy Scheduled Office Closures list in advance.
Typically, our Fort Myers therapy clinic’s schedule mirrors that of the Lee County School District. In other words: If the schools are open, we’re open. If schools are closed, we’re closed. Keep this in mind anytime there are severe weather closures, etc. (particularly during hurricane season!). Obviously, this doesn’t apply to the summer schedule, but where there are deviations, your child’s therapists should alert you in advance. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
Scheduled 2020 FOCUS Therapy Office Closures

- 5/25/20 – Memorial Day
- 9/7/20 – Labor Day
- 11/26-11/27 – Thanksgiving and the Friday after
- 12/21/20-12/25/20 – Christmas Week

Reminders of Sick Child, Cancellation/No Show and Late Policies
The start of the year is a good time to remind all of our FOCUS Therapy clients about our policies regarding sick children, cancellations/no shows and late arrivals.
We expect all patients to be fever-free and symptom-free for 48 hours prior to attending therapy. If other family members have been ill in the last two days, please refrain from bringing them to the clinic until they are also symptom-free for 48 hours. This is extremely important because we strive to create a healthy environment for not just our staff but also our other patients, some of whom may have weakened immune systems.
As for cancellations, you must provide at least 24 hours advance notice (more if at all possible). In situations where there are unforeseen circumstances (i.e., your child has suddenly fallen ill, etc.), cancellation notice should be given by 8 a.m. for morning appointments and 12 p.m. (noon) for afternoon appointments. Failure to notify us will result in a $40 fee per discipline, which is not covered by insurance.
If a patient has excessive absences due to illness, we may require a doctor’s note. Five or more appointments missed over a six-month stretch is cause for discharge from services. If you cancel for a stretch of two weeks or more, we can’t guarantee we’ll be able to keep your time slot available when you return.
If you think you are going to be late to your child’s FOCUS Therapy appointment, you must notify us. If you’re more than 15 minutes late to an appointment and haven’t provided us with notice, we may charge a $40 fee and your session will be canceled.
Whenever a session is canceled – whether because the child is sick or because it is on one of the scheduled office closings, our therapists/office staff will work with you to try and reschedule on a different day/time that week. This is for the benefit of the child, as consistency with speech, occupational, physical and ABA therapy is pivotal to success!
Please do not hesitate to speak with your therapists or our FOCUS Therapy office staff if you have any questions about cancellations, our late policy or scheduled office closings.
We’re looking forward to a happy and healthy year for all our FOCUS families – and we can’t wait to see all the greatness accomplished in 2020!
