FOCUS Therapy Coronavirus Response

FOCUS Families: Let’s talk coronavirus.

Also known as COVID-19, the coronavirus spreads between people who are in close contact (defined as within 6 ft). It can also spread by touching surfaces contaminated with droplets of the virus and then touching one’s face, mouth, nose or eyes.

FOCUS Therapy is taking several measures to address the concerns related to the coronavirus.

First and foremost, we’re getting our information from reliable sources, such as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the CDC, the very best prevention methods are regular and thorough hand-washing and diligent cleaning of surfaces between users.

FOCUS therapists have been specifically instructed to pay extra attention to ensuring all their patients are frequently and efficiently washing their hands (incorporating this as a therapy goal for many as well!).Therapists are also being conscientious about wiping down their work spaces between every client and placing “mouthed” toys and other items in a bin to be disinfected. Spray bottles containing child-safe, germ-killing cleaning solution have been placed throughout the clinic for regular ease of use.

For families in the waiting room, we have both a fully-stocked bathroom with soap and hand towels, as well as hand sanitizer at the front desk.

At this time, we have no intention of closing our clinic, though we remain attentive to the updates and recommendations of public health officials. We recently launched a Teletherapy Department through which some of our children receive some of their therapies. This too can help cut down on the spread of illness while still ensuring our patients are getting their therapy hours.

We care about our patients and their families and take their health and wellness very seriously – especially because we have numerous patients who are immuno-compromised. Maintaining a healthy environment at our clinic for these patients, their families, our therapists and the rest of our staff is critically important to us.

If you have any questions at all about the FOCUS Therapy response to the coronavirus or other health-related concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our staff during office at hours at (239) 313-5049 or via email at
