FOCUS Fort Myers Therapy

RBT (Registered Behavior Technician)

Yomaris Sanchez is a registered behavior technician (RBT) who has been working with the Fort Myers ABA Therapy team at FOCUS Therapy since 2024.

Sanchez, a graduate of Cape Coral High School, is a Queens, New York native who moved to Fort Myers with her family when she was just 6-years-old. Currently majoring in Psychology with a focus in Applied Behavioral Analysis at FIU, Sanchez is bilingual in English and Spanish and has prior experience working with children who have autism and other developmental disabilities at another Fort Myers ABA therapy clinic.

“I was inspired to become a therapist because of my family background with autism,” Sanchez said. “I have seen firsthand the challenges and struggles that individuals with autism and their families face, and I’m passionate about providing support and guidance to help improve their quality of life.”

A critical component of her work with children on the autism spectrum is the implementation of personalized treatment plans targeting specific communication goals and social deficits. By relying on creative and evidence-based strategies(ex: visual supports, social stories and reinforcement techniques) and emphasizing the importance of data collection to track progress, she’s had marked success improving patients’ communication and social skills.

“I strive to provide comprehensive and individualized support for individuals with ASD and help them achieve their full potential in communication and socialization,” Sanchez said.

She finds working with children – helping them learn, grow, and succeed – to be uniquely rewarding.

“One aspect I love most about serving children is the opportunity to positively impact their lives and help them reach their full potential,” she said. “As an RBT, I can use my skills and knowledge to support children with developmental challenges and behavioral needs, which allows me to witness their progress firsthand.”

At FOCUS, she appreciates the positive, inclusive workplace culture, as well as the collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork that’s actively promoted.

“Employees at FOCUS are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those they serve, which adds significant meaning and purpose to their work,” she said. “The shared dedication to the organization’s mission creates a real sense of unity and purpose, which makes working here a truly exceptional experience.”

In her spare time, she enjoys reading books, and making memories with friends and family.

“My family has supported me through thick and thin, celebrated my successes and lifted me during challenging times,” she said. “Their love and guidance have shaped me into the person I am today, and I am forever grateful for their presence in my life.”
