Jenna Higginbotham, Occupational Therapist, Registered/Licensed
Jenna Higginbotham is a Fort Myers occupational therapist who joined the FOCUS Therapy team in 2022.
A New Jersey native, she earned her master’s degree in occupational therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania.
“I want to be able to help people in a holistic way and provide opportunities for others to live their best lives possible,” Higginbotham said of her decision to enter the field of occupational therapy.
She moved to Southwest Florida after graduating to be closer to family – and enjoy the year-round sunshine. At FOCUS, she appreciates the collaborative work environment where therapists of all disciplines communicate freely, encourage each other, and work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child.
She’s been drawn to working children almost from the start of her career, having been previously employed by a public school, a behavioral and autism-specialized school, and another pediatric outpatient clinic.
“I love how when working with kids, everything is FUN!” she explained. “I love the creativity and imagination allowed when working with pediatrics. Every day is different, and my day is spent playing, dancing, moving, and creating fun activities based on the child’s needs.”
In addition to being a strong proponent of play-based therapy, she approaches each OT session with the goal of ensuring each child feels heard, supported, and loved.
“Connecting and caring for my clients is my first priority in every session.”
When she’s not devoting her time helping kids in Southwest Florida reach their peak potential, she enjoys spending off days at the beach, shelling, trying new foods, playing pickleball, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
